Atmospheric Pressure

Atmospheric pressure, often called barometric pressure, is the force per unit area exerted against a surface by the weight of the air above that surface in the Earth’s atmosphere. It is a critical parameter in meteorology, aviation, and various engineering fields, indicating the pressure within the atmosphere at a given location. At sea level, the standard atmospheric pressure is defined as 1013.25 hPa (hectopascals), equivalent to 1 atm (atmosphere), 1013.25 millibars, or 14.696 psi (pounds per square inch).
