Newton per Square Metre (N/m²)

N/m² (Newton per square metre) is a unit of pressure within the International System of Units (SI).

Pressure Defined

Pressure signifies the force applied perpendicular to a surface divided by the area over which that force acts. In simpler terms, it’s the force exerted per unit area.

Understanding N/m²

One newton (N) is the force needed to accelerate a one-kilogram mass by one meter per second squared. So, one N/m² represents the pressure exerted when a force of one newton is spread uniformly over an area of one square metre.
