Offset

In pressure measurement, “offset” refers to the deviation or error that occurs when a pressure sensor or gauge does not read zero when no pressure is applied. This means that even when the sensor should ideally measure zero pressure (i.e., at a no-load condition), it may show a positive or negative value, which is the offset. It can arise due to sensor drift, manufacturing imperfections, or environmental conditions like temperature changes. Offset is typically corrected by recalibrating the sensor, or it can be mathematically subtracted from all future readings to ensure accuracy.
