Metal Foil Strain Gauge

A metal foil strain gauge is a device used to measure the mechanical strain of an object. It consists of a thin metal foil bonded to a flexible backing material. When the object to which the gauge is attached is subjected to strain (deformation), the resistance of the foil changes proportionally. This change in resistance can then be measured to determine the amount of strain.
